How to write the methodology?

Now, from this article I am going to explain to you how to write the methodology. This is also a very much important part of your proposal. So, I will help you to write the methodology step by step very simply. This section represents the materials that have been used by you or the materials that you are going to use to solve the identified problem. Therefore, you should detail the methodology sufficiently. Then the readers can understand how you have collected data for the research. When you are doing qualitative research, you can collect information from books, magazines, journals, newspaper articles, videos, annual reports, surveys and researches conducted by national institutions and online sources on the web. Then you have to mention clearly the types of data too. It comes under a separate title in your methodology section. Let’s move on to types of data.

Types of data

Data is the basic thing that you have to consider when you write your thesis. The data that have been collected by you in any way is very much important. Because the data is the most important thing to build up your thesis continuously. There are two types of data,

·         Primary data

·         Secondary data

Primary data can be collected by questionnaires and interviews. This is known as raw data too. Secondary data can be collected by researches, articles, books, magazines, newspapers, reports and surveys. The collected data can be used by you to your research by,

·         Paraphrasing

·         Direct quotations

Paraphrasing means write your own words after reading existing literature without copying the original work. But you have to mention references correctly. I will show you an example.

Example 01.

According to Uma (2010) first and the supreme culture in the world is the Indian culture because all the behaviours and learnings of India have been based on its culture.

Now you can see that there is only the name of the author and the published date. There are no quotations marks also. Let’s move on to direct quotations.

Direct quotations mean to write the original text and put it in the relevant place without changing it. Here also you have to mention references correctly. I will show you an example.

Example 02.

Dhal (1957, p.201) describe “Power is the ability for one actor to influence the actions of another actor that would not have occurred otherwise”

Now you can see that there is the name of the author, published date and the page number in brackets and quotation marks.

Therefore, I think you can easily understand what is methodology and how it should be written. Now let’s move on to the next article. From that article, I am going to explain to you how to write the conceptual framework. So, Keep in touch with that article too.
