How to write the research problem?

As I told you in my previous article now, I am going to describe you about the research problem.

This is the main point of your research. Because your overall research depends upon this. This is the place where you explain your research gap. By reading this(research problem) the reader will understand what kind of solution you are going to provide to a problem. And also, the reader will understand what kind of a new knowledge you are going to investigate.

You should remember this is not just a question. This will be able to provide deep understanding about your research at the very first moment in the proposal. As this is a scholarly investigation you should have a clear idea about what you are you are going to investigate newly. And also, you should have a good knowledge about your research area and plenty of sources to create the problem statement. This cannot be done very quickly.

You have to take much time to formulate this.  Because you won’t be able to provide a good idea about your research through the problem statement. Before write the problem statement you have to review all the literature and theories that you have found. You can write this like a small paragraph. And it should be like a brief summery. I’ll show you an example of a problem statement related to a topic.

Research topic:

Maintenance of the status quo in South Asia: India and China’s soft power usage.

The problem statement:

On one hand India being the regional power and a rising power in the world and on the other hand China being already a world power expect to ensure their hegemony over South Asia. Therefore, both India and China use numerous soft power tools in order to ensure their hegemony over the region. Similarly, their national interest is also playing a major role. And also, there are number of successes and failures of using soft power to maintain the status quo in the South Asia. Therefore, it is expected to find out the impact of their soft power usage on the maintenance of status quo in the South Asia.

I think it will be clear enough for you to understand about the problem statement and how it can be formulated by your self. In the next article I am going to explain you about research questions objectives.
