In the first
article of this lessons series I have explained you about the importance of a
thesis and what a thesis is. In this article I am going to explain you about basic
words that you have to use during your research.
Using these terminologies is a
must, because these words improve the quality and give a professional look and
feel to your thesis. Hence, I recommend you to have a good look on these words.
It is very difficult to use these words without knowing the real meaning.
Therefore, I am going to explain you about these words very simply.
I think it
will be a great help for you to cover your thesis simply and correctly. Let’s
begin. Followings are the main words that you have to deal with when doing
a research.
- Abstract – This is a short piece of writing including main ideas of the whole document.
- Acknowledgement – This is a writing that the writer expresses his/her thanks to those who have helped to complete a particular document.
- Abbreviations- This is the short form of a word.
- Methodology- This is a set of methods used to represent a particular situation.
- Data - Information that is used to find a solution to a particular situation.
- Theories- Formal ideas or explanations that is used to describe why something has happened can be taken as theories.
- Concepts- A principle that is connected with a particular situation can be taken as concepts.
- Analysis- Analysis means study about a particular situation in order to find the results.
- Literature- Printed information or writings on a particular subject area can be taken as the literature.
- Review- Examine about a particular situation by providing your opinions where necessary can be taken as a review.
- References – References means a note in a book, journal, article, magazine, newspaper etc. that shows you where the particular information come from.
So, the above
words are the basic terminology that you have to deal with while you are doing
your research. In the next article I am going to explain you about the basic structure of the thesis.
